The courses are taught by a team of experienced Arabic speakers with a wealth of experience and a proven track record. The team is led by Dr. Imran Alawiye.
Dr. Imran Alawiye is a well recognised expert in the field of teaching Arabic to non Arabic speakers in a non Arabic environment. He graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia in 1979 with a BA in Arabic Language and Literature followed by an MA. He proceeded to complete the PhD in Classical Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London in 1985.
He is the author and publisher of four successful series of books for teaching Modern Standard Arabic to non-Arabic speakers, namely ‘Gateway to Arabic’, ‘The Key to Arabic’, ‘Arabic from the Beginning’ and ‘Arabic Without Tears’ and produces supporting materials including flashcards and posters.
He was the deputy head of the Arabic department and the registrar at the King Fahad Academy from 1985 to 1995.
He was previously the principle examiner of O-level Classical Arabic for Edexcel, and was responsible for setting exam papers and supervising the marking.
He was an Arabic tutor for five years at Morley College and set up and ran the Greenford Arabic School for more than fifteen years.
